How To Cure The Halitsis?

Do people frequently back away from you? Do people make funny faces or hand you breath mints whenever they speak to you? If any of these things has happened to you, then you might need to look for a halitosis treatment immediately.

Halitosis or bad breath is a medical condition that millions of people have to suffer with everyday. This is a condition that can be quite embarrassing to be burdened with. Unfortunately, many people with this problem do not know that they have it.

The second thing you can try is to lick the back of your hand or your wrist. The reason you want to do this is because you can smell an odor from your saliva after it dries. After you allow the saliva to dry on your hand for several seconds, you should smell the dried saliva. If you do not smell a bad odor, then you should consider yourself fortunate. However, if you smell a disgusting odor, then you should start looking for a bad breath treatment.

Do you want to find out if you have bad breath? Well, fortunately for you, there are some simple tests that you can perform at home that will tell you the truth. The first thing you can do is locate any white residue on the front or back of your tongue. Then use a tongue scraper or spoon to scrape off some of this residue and smell it. Take a whiff of the residue and you will be able to tell what other people smell when they are speaking to you. If you smell a disgusting odor, then you probably have halitosis and should look for a treatment for it.

Mouthwashes were designed to help rinse out the mouth after brushing... Brushing removes plague, bacteria and cell debris from the teeth, gums and elsewhere but unless it is flushed out it will simply resettle on the teeth. We could rinse the mouth with water but then we would be removing the fluoride we had just introduced with our toothpaste.

Mouthwashes allow us to clear out all the nasty particles brushing removes whilst keeping fluoride levels high and a fresher mouth for longer. Manufactures have now also found ways to add halitosis treatments to these mouthwashes making them even more beneficial for us.

Chronic bad breath or halitosis is caused by bacteria growing in the mouth excreting nasty smelling waste products. The best treatment for halitosis is to get rid of these bacteria. You can use medical equipment to do dental care.

Antibacterial mouthwashes can help to this as they attack the bacteria directly however these bacteria live in anaerobic conditions; often beneath a film of mucus at the back of the tongue therefore in order to get to them we need to clean this area thoroughly with a tongue scraper before using the mouthwash. Oxidizing toothpaste and mouthwash will also help to make this area less hospitable for bacteria and prevent them coming back.

One type of mouthwash you would do well to avoid are those that contain alcohol. Alcohol will only serve to dry out the mouth, a condition in which bacteria thrive, making them a very poor treatment for halitosis.
